IONX™: History
Textile innovator Dan Short began his career with Kentucky Textiles, his wife’s family business from 1984 to 2003. Following his passion for fabric, knitting, dying and finishing, he worked with Lumberton Dye and Finishing which had him leading the next level of innovation with clients such as Speedo and their performance fabric, Fastskins. For the 1992 and 1996 Olympics he had a front row seat to the introduction of the Sharkskin material that went into Speedo Fastskin swimsuits.
“In 2004, I developed a negative ion technology that was liquid,” shares the inventor. “It was difficult to make it last a long time. But it worked. And worked well.”
“When I started to work with the yarn companies, switching from chemicals to earth minerals made everything permanent and stronger,” Short continues. “It’s actually a blessing that it did take so long to get the yarn to work. Now the active ingredients that we use do much more than just create a negative ion environment. IONX™ also has magnetic properties and is extremely good at blocking radiation.”

After 15 years in the lab, IONX™-World Technology has come to the market.
Idea – IONX™ came about through a conversation about creating a space suit that could block radiation using natural minerals. How did they do it for the space shuttle.
Creation – Looked at insolation and what did they use. Earth Minerals… that came from from space. They were repurposed those minerals because they knew that the minerals were safe. Reviewed many options before creating this technology.
Testing – No Budget restrictions were applied to the amount of testing.
Market – Licensing the technology to improve existing products.

Why are blocking EMFs important? Studies have shown that we all are increasingly exposed to unsafe levels of EMF radiation in our everyday life. Wireless environments and our hand held devices have positively changed our world and yet, they also produce EMF radiation, which can result in symptoms such as sleep disturbances, insomnia, headache, depression, tiredness and fatigue, lack of concentration, loss of memory and dizziness.

“Undergarments made from IONX™ yarn could help minimize these risks,” relates Dr. Chris Proulx, Medical Advisor to IONX™. “For example, most clothing is 6.0 ounce for which it’s reasonable to expect 79.8% block. A two paneled bra would double the protection, so you could expect 92%. Men’s underwear has two, three, even four panels and folds in the crotch area which increases the protection.”
Humans get most of their exposure to health-enhancing negative ions from being in nature. Scientists have been studying the health benefits of negative ions for over 100 years and they include: better regulated sleep patterns, reduced stress and enhanced mood, better immune system function, increased metabolism, kill or inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, viruses, and mold species and the lessening of free radicals which cause oxidative damage and DNA fragmentation.
